This wisteria branch pendant was made by Georges Fouquet, but we don't know exactly when. It’s made of gold, enamel, and pearls, and it’s all about surface and light. Look at the way the enamel shimmers, like light hitting water, it's incredible! You can almost feel the coolness of a spring morning. The pearls are so interesting; they're not perfectly round, but a little irregular, like real flower buds. It gives it a sense of movement, as though the wisteria is swaying in the breeze. The green enamel on the leaves is also so beautiful and translucent. There's something so delicate and intentional about the details of the work, but it comes together with this feeling of naturalness. It reminds me of the art nouveau style of Alphonse Mucha, where natural and stylized details also come together. It makes you think about the beauty of the natural world and how it can be captured in art.
