This globe on an arc, a still bank, has come to life with an array of earthy browns and silvers, possibly made from cast metal. I can imagine someone shaping this piece, not just as an object, but as an idea, a small world they could turn in their hands, contemplating all the places their savings might take them. I think about how the artist’s hands might have aged the metal to give the globe a sense of history and a story of its own. I’m also wondering about the purpose of the grid lines. Were they a practical element, or did the maker find beauty in the structure they added? The globe’s muted colors make me think about the subtle color palettes used by Giorgio Morandi. Like Morandi’s still-life paintings, this object invites us to look closely and find beauty in simplicity and familiar forms. It's a reminder of our shared humanity. The anonymous creator invites us to dream and see the world with fresh eyes.
