This is ‘The Games of Yvonne’ by Gordinne, a print made with lithography. I love the light touch of this print. The colors are muted, almost like faded memories, and the lines are delicate, capturing the fleeting moments of childhood games. You get a sense of how Gordinne approached the piece, capturing all the different games children played. Look at the panel of 'Lawn-Tennis.' The grass has been captured by a single stroke of colour and the net with just a few lines! The artist trusts the viewer to interpret what is there, and we feel drawn into the fun that the children are having. Gordinne’s work is reminiscent of illustrators like Kate Greenaway, who had a similar knack for capturing the innocence and joy of childhood. But Gordinne brings a unique simplicity, reminding us that art is not about perfection, but about connection. It's a conversation, an ongoing game of interpretation and shared experience.
