Konstantin Bogaevsky's "Landscape with Lake" uses graphite to create a vision of monumental calm. I am struck by the repetitive, almost obsessive mark-making. Look closely, and you will see it. This isn't just drawing; it's a kind of meditation. I imagine the artist lost in a world of tiny strokes, each one building toward the epic scale. The drawing reminds me of Piranesi, but with a touch of Caspar David Friedrich. There's this sublime, romantic feeling, but the architecture feels so solid, so…eternal. You can sense that Bogaevsky’s hand was completely present, like a seismograph recording inner tremors. And the light, those radiant bursts, it’s like he’s trying to capture something just beyond reach. That’s the thing about drawing and painting, isn’t it? It’s never really done. There's such beauty in the attempt.
