This little photo reproduction of ornaments, two with insects, I find kinda charming. The limited gray palette really makes you focus on the shapes. You see it’s not just about depicting a bug, but turning it into an elegant form, almost like a fancy letter. Look at the beetle on the right. The artist takes the basic bug shape but then softens it, adding these curves and a little heart shape on its back. The legs become delicate lines, part of the overall design. It’s like they’re thinking, "How can I make this creepy-crawly thing beautiful?" It reminds me a bit of the work of Hilma af Klint, who also used simplified forms and a muted palette to explore hidden worlds. It’s this idea that art isn’t just about what you see, but what you feel and imagine, and how simple forms can unlock so much.
