This anonymous artwork, dating back to 1814-1830, depicts a "Tamboerstok" or drumstick, a ceremonial staff used by a drummer in the Amsterdam militia. The staff is made of wood and features a silver-plated top, a hallmark of its use within a high-ranking military unit. The silver-plated chain wrapped around the staff adds decorative flair and reflects the craftsmanship of the period. Now housed in the Rijksmuseum, this artifact provides a glimpse into the history of the Amsterdam militia during the 19th century, and is an example of military decorative art.
