The "Butter Tub" was produced by the Worcester Royal Porcelain Company around 1760. This small, oval-shaped porcelain dish is adorned with delicate blue and white floral patterns, a style known as "blue and white transferware." The intricate designs, executed in underglaze blue, depict stylized flowers and foliage, reminiscent of Chinese porcelain, which was highly influential on European ceramics during the 18th century. The piece's lid features a delicate, white, molded floral motif. The "Butter Tub" is now part of the collection at the Art Institute of Chicago, showcasing the craftsmanship and aesthetic sensibilities of English porcelain making in the 18th century.
