This gold pocket watch, created by Wetherell & Janaway between 1785 and 1795, is a fine example of 18th-century watchmaking. The watch features a white enamel dial with black Roman numeral hour markers and black Arabic numeral minute markers, surrounded by a border of pearls. The watch is currently on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Its small size (4.8 cm in diameter) suggests that it was designed for personal use, possibly as a fashionable accessory.
