Howard Finster’s 'Train' is an artwork that breathes with the energy of creation, patched together with wire, found objects, and the sheer force of imagination. Can you see him, wrestling with the metal, bending and shaping it, driven by some inner vision to build this locomotive of dreams? I think about the open, cage-like structure and how this train feels more like a vessel for ideas, thoughts flying around like passengers embarking on a journey of discovery. I can imagine Finster piecing together scraps of metal, each a fragment of memory, each a burst of inspiration. The transparency of the wire allows us to see through the train and perhaps glimpse into the artist’s mind itself. It reminds me of other visionary artists, like Joseph Cornell, building their own worlds from fragments of reality. Artists are all in conversation, responding to each other across time and space. We are all aboard for the ride.
