Man Ray made this abstract print, The Meeting, with color and shapes, and a real sense of play. The color palette is bold – reds, yellows, oranges – and the shapes kind of float and interact. You know, looking at the overlapping, translucent areas, I think about how painting is really a process of layering, just like human interaction. Each color influences the next. There's this vertical, zig-zagging form in the center, with a line that feels like a spine, and little dashes like vertebrae. It gives the whole thing a sense of structure, but also a quirky, organic feel. This reminds me a little of Sonia Delaunay's colorful compositions. Both artists embrace this idea of art as an ongoing experiment, where the final image is less important than the act of creation itself. There is no fixed meaning, just an invitation to keep looking and feeling.
