Dimensions sheet: 25.2 x 20.2 cm (9 15/16 x 7 15/16 in.)
This is a sheet of photographic film by Robert Frank. Look closely and you'll see a series of images, one after the other, framed by the dark edges of the film strip itself. I can imagine Frank walking around Switzerland, the camera his constant companion, trying to capture something of the place. The landscape, the people, the way the light falls. There are glimpses of daily life; a child amidst a flock of sheep, the interior of a building, and a ticket booth with 'Kasse' written on it. The act of making these photographs is an act of seeing, and the film is a record of this process. Frank's photographs are a reminder that the world is always more complex, and more beautiful, than we can ever fully grasp. It reminds me of my own artistic process - a process of experimentation, intuition, and a willingness to embrace uncertainty.
