Siegfried Zademack made this strange architectural fantasy, *Von der Hölle in den Himmel*, with paint. Look at those winding paths and ghostly figures, leading us up and up! It’s like a spiritual staircase, maybe one the artist was imagining while he was painting. I bet Zademack was wrestling with big questions here: heaven and hell, progress and stagnation. The paint isn’t thick, but it has a certain luminescence, especially in the way the figures glow. Then you see those little weights, pulling everything down. Are they doubts, or earthly burdens? The lines tethering those veiled figures, those heavy weights like a chain. It's not just a painting, it’s a whole world, or a philosophical puzzle. It reminds me of other visionary artists like Hilma af Klint, who were also charting unseen realms through their work. Artists, you know, always borrowing, always building on each other’s visions. We all are.
