Two Heads 

Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz's "Two Heads" presents a striking composition marked by bold lines and discordant color combinations that challenge traditional portraiture. The faces, rendered in angular forms, evoke a sense of unease, enhanced by the jarring contrast of warm and cool tones. Witkiewicz, or "Witkacy" as he was known, was deeply engaged with philosophical ideas about the self and its disintegration in modern society. In this work, the faces appear fractured, almost cubist, suggesting a breakdown of identity. Note how the flattening of space and the use of arbitrary colors disrupt any sense of naturalism, pulling the viewer into a psychological landscape rather than a mimetic representation.
