"De Vernieuwde Jan de Wasscher" is a 19th-century broadside created by Erve H. Rynders. Printed in Amsterdam, the work is a series of 16 vignettes that depict scenes from a popular Dutch folk tale. The images tell the story of a washerwoman who is confronted with a series of challenges and trials. The work is a fine example of Dutch popular art, combining woodcut illustrations with a text written in the vernacular language. The broadside is currently housed in the Rijksmuseum.
