Henry Meyers drew this Pewter Mug with graphite on paper. The mug sits squarely, its form articulated with subtle gradations of tone. It’s an interesting thing, drawing something. You look, and you look, and try to get it down, but of course you never really can. Look at the handle, how the light catches it, and at the base of the mug, grounded with dark shadows. The drawing's got this quiet, contemplative feel, a testament to the simple beauty of everyday objects. The mug is framed by a square, with small technical drawings at the bottom, like a study. But it's a study with feeling. Think of other artists like Giorgio Morandi, elevating bottles and vessels into monumental still lifes. Art is always a conversation, an exchange of seeing and feeling across time. What does this Pewter Mug make you feel?
