Friedel Dzubas made *Kay's Travel* with strokes of blues and oranges, like a memory half-forgotten. Imagine him at the canvas, wrestling with the paint, each mark a question, a correction, a new direction. Those bold circles, like dark portals, what did they mean to him? Maybe they’re glimpses into another world, or maybe they’re just shapes, asserting themselves on the canvas, demanding our attention. The paint is applied loosely, allowing the colors to breathe, to mingle and clash, creating a sense of movement and energy. I feel a kinship with Dzubas, that urge to push the paint around, to see what happens, to let the subconscious take over. It reminds me of Helen Frankenthaler’s soak-stain technique, but with a bit more…oomph. We are all in conversation with each other across the ages. It’s a reminder that art is not just about answers, it’s about the questions, the doubts, and the endless possibilities of expression.
