This 1834 table by Friedrich Frickhinger is an excellent example of the Biedermeier style, a popular decorative art movement in 19th century Germany. The round table is crafted with an intricate design, featuring a base supported by four intricately carved lion feet and a top adorned with intricate marquetry. The use of delicate woods and a rich, dark stain contributes to the table's luxurious and elegant look. The detailed carving of the lion feet and the precise inlaid designs of the table top highlight the craftsmanship and artistry of the Biedermeier era.

German-born Blechschmidt worked for leading Paris cabinetmakers and specialized in colourful marquetry (inlaid work) in various materials. He used an Italian Renaissance style for the marquetry here. Friedrich Frickhinger, one of his pupils and also a German active in Paris, made the furniture. He placed his signature and the date, 1834, on the inside of the secretary.
