Editor: This is John Skippe's "Landscape with River and Trees." It's a small ink wash drawing. I’m immediately struck by the almost dreamlike quality. It's so serene. What symbols do you see within the drawing? Curator: Notice how the trees, almost like figures, lean towards the river. The river, a classic symbol of time and change, reflects not just the sky, but perhaps a deeper, more enduring truth about nature. How does that visual echo resonate with you? Editor: I guess it feels like nature is both a mirror and a constant. Curator: Precisely! Skippe is using a visual language that connects the earthly and the eternal through easily understandable universal symbols. The trees represent longevity and continuity, as well. Editor: That makes the whole scene feel much more timeless. Thank you for pointing that out!
