Konstantin Gorbatov captured this scene with oil on canvas, and it's a total feast for the eyes. The painting bursts with blues, yellows, and greens, all dancing together in this dreamy vision of Capri. I imagine Gorbatov, brush in hand, trying to capture the light as it bounces off the water, feeling the warmth of the sun as he worked. You can almost see him layering those strokes, one on top of the other, building up the textures of the flowers, the stone, the sea. Look at the way he's rendered the woman's dress – each frill and fold alive with movement. It reminds me a bit of John Singer Sargent, but with a Russian twist. There's a certain exuberance, a love for the sheer pleasure of painting itself. The way artists borrow, steal, and riff off each other is kind of beautiful, isn’t it? Like one long, ongoing conversation. This painting feels like a love letter, an invitation to get lost in color and light, and maybe find a little bit of ourselves in the process.
