Editor: This is Henry Robertson’s “Hartt House, Built 1724, Hull Street.” It’s a small, detailed print. The house feels so solid and permanent. What visual language do you think Robertson is using to convey that? Curator: The house as a symbol of stability and permanence is fascinating here. Notice the symmetry of the windows, the solid form of the chimneys, and the shadows that give the building weight. These elements suggest the enduring presence of home and family, deeply embedded cultural values. What stories do you imagine living within these walls? Editor: I hadn't thought about the symmetry. It makes me think about how we idealize home life. I’ll remember that.
