Lovis Corinth made this drawing of cows with what looks like graphite, or maybe charcoal. The lines are so fast and loose, it's like he's trying to catch a fleeting moment. It reminds me how drawing is all about the process, not just the final picture. Look at how he builds up the form of the cow at the bottom with these dense, scribbly marks. You can almost feel the weight and bulk of the animal. And then, compare that to the lighter, more delicate lines he uses for the cow standing at the top. It’s like he is trying to capture all these different perspectives at once. Corinth’s drawing feels like a conversation with other artists, like Degas, who also captured everyday scenes with a similar sense of immediacy. It reminds us that art is an ongoing dialogue, each artist building on what came before. It’s about embracing the messy, imperfect process of trying to make sense of the world.
