Alevtyna Kakhidze made this poignant untitled drawing with pen and colored pencil. You can really sense the artist working through her thoughts. The rawness of the materials is so telling. It is immediate and feels unrehearsed. I am drawn to the figure on the left who holds a sign reading "Statements". What kind of statements do you think they are referring to, and how might they be inadequate? The blue teardrops really bring this home. It reminds me that art can be about asking questions, not necessarily providing answers, inviting us into a shared space of uncertainty. Kakhidze's practice reminds me of the work of Philip Guston; both artists possess the courage to embrace vulnerability. It's a reminder that art thrives in the realm of the unsaid, the unresolved, and the deeply felt.
