Editor: Here we have Enrico Prampolini's "Astrazione plastica" from 1954, created with mixed media and acrylic paint. I'm really struck by the contrast of textures – the crumpled foil juxtaposed with the flat blocks of color. It feels very deliberate. What's your take? Curator: Ah, Prampolini. Always reaching for the cosmos with both hands! To me, this piece is a vibrant stage set, wouldn't you agree? Imagine each shape as an actor, bathed in a slightly melancholic light, all performing some abstract drama. See how the geometric elements suggest structure and order, almost like architectural blueprints. Editor: Yes, now that you mention it, it reminds me of cityscapes from the future, in films like Metropolis, all sharp angles. I'm not so sure about melancholy though... What leads you there? Curator: Well, perhaps the muted tones contribute to that feeling of quiet contemplation...But then there is that electrifying jolt of orange – pure energy! Prampolini's use of commonplace materials also strikes me. In this case, they elevate our everyday surroundings to the sublime. Did you notice, the piece of crushed metal can evoke fleeting memories of war, which at that moment haunted Europe’s unconscious mind. Editor: That's interesting, the crushed metal as a symbol. I had not thought of that at all, it broadens the possibilities. So the abstract could also be grounded in some real, shared experiences... Curator: Exactly! Prampolini always insisted that the ‘abstract’ never completely let go of a link to reality. His works are full of poetic insights, that go far beyond geometry! What a trip to our imagination, no? Editor: Totally! It feels much more layered now. Thank you! Curator: My pleasure! Each encounter with an artwork is like embarking on a brand new adventure... Always delightful!
