Milk Pot 1835 - 1840

"Milk Pot" is a silver milk pitcher crafted by American silversmith William Forbes in the mid-19th century. The octagonal, bulbous form is accented by a delicate engraved pattern and a stylized, serpent-like handle. The pitcher is on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The initials “E.J.C.” on the body of the pitcher suggest this was a personalized piece created for a particular individual.
