Neville Keasberry took this stereoscopic photograph of a bridge over a rapidly flowing river near Kepandjen, and wow, it's like stepping back in time. I'm looking at this bridge, this crazy little structure barely holding itself together, and I'm thinking about Keasberry setting up his camera, probably sweating, trying to get the light just right. What was he thinking as he framed this shot? Was he captivated by the bridge's reflection in the water? Or the way the landscape just tumbles down towards the river? I mean, photography back then wasn't as easy as whipping out your iPhone. It was a whole process, a physical thing. And this image, it's not just a picture of a bridge. It’s about being present, about seeing something and wanting to hold onto it. I think Keasberry was maybe trying to capture a feeling, not just a scene. It's about the dialogue between looking and recording, between the world and how we see it.
