Onbekend vrouw met kind en twee mensen bij ski's, 1931-1932, vermoedelijk in Duitsland of Oostenrijk 1931 - 1932

This small black and white photograph, probably taken in Germany or Austria in the early 1930s, shows an unknown woman and child standing next to two people and some skis. It’s casually glued into an album, slightly crooked. I’m interested in this anonymous person who took this picture; I wonder if they were an amateur photographer, capturing a family moment, or maybe a professional working quickly, churning out images for tourists. I feel the artist was trying to capture a sense of place and time and trying to capture something human. It’s a little blurry. Maybe the photographer felt a connection to the subjects, or maybe they were just doing a job, and weren’t particularly interested in the image. These images can be so evocative, even without us knowing exactly what they mean, or who these people are. What do you think they were like? Where do you think they were going?
