Edvard Weie made this watercolor painting, "Skovvej. Farvestudie" on paper, and it's like a little poem of color and light. It's all these soft washes of blues and greens, like he's trying to catch the feeling of being in a forest. I imagine Weie outside with his paper and paints, just letting the colors flow and blend, almost like he's not in control at all. He's got these watery brushstrokes, very thin, that create shapes that are kind of there but not really. It feels like a dance between control and chance. Looking at it, I'm reminded of other artists like, say, Emil Nolde, who also used watercolor to capture intense feelings about nature. It makes you wonder about the conversation happening between these painters, each pushing the limits of what paint can do. It's like they're all in this ongoing experiment, trying to find new ways of seeing.
