This is a drawing by Oleg Holosiy, made with what looks like graphite on paper. It's all about the process, you know? The artist isn't trying to hide a single thing. The texture of the paper is present, and the marks are clearly visible. Look at the top right, there's an area where the pencil lines bunch up, almost frantic, yet controlled. It's like Holosiy is wrestling with the form, trying to pull it out of the ether. The lines are raw, like someone thinking out loud. It makes me think of Cy Twombly, how he used marks to capture a feeling, a moment. It's that kind of rawness that makes this drawing so compelling, it is Holosiy really just letting it all hang out. There's something vulnerable and powerful in that act of exposing the making.
