This etching by Bernard Picart, titled "Jakob legt afgeschilde takken in de drinkbakken van de schapen", is a depiction of the biblical story of Jacob tricking his father Isaac into blessing him instead of his brother Esau. Jacob, seen in the center of the oval-shaped frame, is placing peeled branches into the watering troughs of his sheep, hoping to make them smell like Esau's goats, and deceive his blind father, Isaac. This black and white engraving dates back to the 18th century and is a fine example of the meticulous details and ornate ornamentation typical of Dutch etching from this period. The piece is on display at the Rijksmuseum.
