This bronze medal, created by Willem Schammer in 1886, commemorates the 250th anniversary of Utrecht University. The obverse features a female figure representing the university, holding a torch aloft, with the inscription “Lata Sacra Civitas” (The Happy Sacred City) encircling her. The reverse side displays a wreath of oak leaves with the Latin inscription “Celebrandis Quinto Semisesqui Saeculo Utricht Regino-Traiect Academiae et Guilielmi III MDCCCLXXXVI.” (Celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the University of Utrecht and William III, 1886).
