Curator: This strikingly bold print is called "Lessons," created by Paula Rego. Look at the way she uses color. Editor: It feels…unsettling. Like a half-remembered nightmare from childhood. So much raw energy. Curator: Rego often explores themes of power dynamics and childhood memories, using animalistic figures to represent different aspects of the human psyche. Notice the dog-like figures. Editor: They're like distorted versions of innocence, all teeth and frantic limbs. The scale feels off too. Like it's all about to topple over. Curator: The disjointed composition and vibrant color palette heighten the emotional impact. It prompts us to think about the darker side of storytelling. Editor: Yeah, the stories we tell ourselves to make sense of chaos, or the ones that haunt us. Definitely makes you want to keep exploring.
