Cope2, born in 1968, created this "Wall Piece," a vibrant mural of graffiti art in Dublin, Ireland, in 2006. Raised in the South Bronx, Cope2 began his artistic journey tagging his name throughout the New York City subway system. Here, the bold use of color and form suggests the feeling of urban energy. Cope2 has taken the visual language of his youth and translated it into a globalized form of expression. Each tag is a narrative of self, a declaration of existence in a world that often seeks to erase or ignore certain voices. Cope2 says, "It’s about keeping it raw, true to the streets." In this context, street art becomes a form of resistance, a way of reclaiming public space and challenging established power structures. While this work is rooted in a specific cultural context, its themes of identity, resistance, and community resonate far beyond the streets of the South Bronx.
