Editor: This untitled piece is by Gordon House from the Tate Collections. It features a large triangle over scribbled lines and colors. It almost looks like a protest sign. What do you see in this piece? Curator: Well, the triangle, historically and culturally, is incredibly loaded. From mathematical precision to spiritual symbolism, and even its adoption in activist movements. Editor: How so? Curator: Think about the pink triangle, once a Nazi symbol of persecution, reclaimed by the LGBTQ+ community as a powerful emblem of resistance and identity. Considering House's lifetime, do you think that might be relevant here? Editor: Absolutely. I hadn’t thought of that. It makes the scribbles feel like voices struggling to be heard. Curator: Precisely. Art becomes a mirror reflecting not just aesthetics, but the ongoing dialogues of power, identity, and resilience.
