This albumen print of Gezicht op de Rance en het viaduct van Dinan was made by Delizy sometime in the 19th century. It’s like stepping into a sepia dream. The muted tones, almost like a faded memory, create this incredible depth. There's a softness to the whole image, but it’s the details that really grab me. Look at the way the light catches the water, how it blurs the line between the real and the reflected. I'm always drawn to the human touch, the little imperfections that give away the artist’s hand. It’s like they’re saying, "Hey, I was here, I saw this, and I wanted to share it with you." The way the bridge spans the water, it's not just a structure, it’s a connection, a path between two worlds. It reminds me a bit of Atget, with that similar obsession with documenting the everyday, finding beauty in the mundane. It’s that ability to see the extraordinary in the ordinary that really speaks to me.
