This is Gordon Parks' photograph, Early Morning. There’s a kind of vulnerability in the textures he captures here. It’s like he’s revealing the quiet, unvarnished moments that often go unnoticed. Parks doesn't seem to conceal anything. The beauty is in the details, in the way the light catches the rough edges and uneven surfaces. It’s interesting how he brings together this foreground and background, and the contrast between the colors and forms in each. The dark, earthy tones are so different from the bold reds and blacks behind. It reminds me of some of Gerhard Richter’s blurry photographs-turned-paintings. Both Parks and Richter seem interested in finding the extraordinary in the ordinary, pushing us to reconsider what we see every day. Ultimately, Parks' work is a testament to the fact that art doesn’t always have to shout; sometimes, it whispers.
