Fernand Léger painted ‘Le corsage rouge’ with oil on canvas, and it's like he's building a world out of pure form. Look how he simplifies the figures, turning people into geometric shapes and cylinders! I’m really drawn to the way Léger uses color, and the way the red shirt just pops against the ochre background. The smooth, almost mechanical finish emphasizes the color blocks and simple forms. Everything feels very deliberate, and yet, there’s a liveliness in the composition, in the way the figures interact with each other and their environment. He reminds me a bit of artists like Francis Picabia, who were also playing with machine-like forms, but Léger brings a certain warmth, doesn't he? He takes us to a realm where we find beauty in the unexpected. A challenge and an invitation to view the world through a different lens.
