Beverly Chichester made this "Rocking Settee Cradle" and, to me, it feels like an invitation into her artistic process. The rocking cradle has a bold red color and the marks used to create this image are delicate and linear. What catches my eye is the contrast between the finished cradle and the technical drawing below. It’s as if Chichester is showing us both the dream and the blueprint, the art and the craft. There is a lovely tension between the precision of the design and the warmth of the hand-painted version. The red isn’t just a color; it's a feeling, a memory of home. Thinking about artists like Sonia Delaunay, who blurred the lines between fine art and design, I’m reminded that art isn’t just about the final product. It’s about the journey, the making, and the stories we tell along the way. Chichester gives us a glimpse into that story, inviting us to see the world through her eyes, where art and life rock gently together.
