Anna Hyatt Huntington made "Greyhounds Playing" and well, you can see what it's about, right? The cool thing about bronze is the way the light catches on it; it's kind of magical, right? Look closely, and you’ll notice how Huntington has really thought about the planes of the dogs bodies, making them muscular and full of energy. She's really captured the idea of movement in these dogs. It's like they're frozen in a dance, their bodies all angles and energy. If you run your eyes over the dog's raised left paw you can see the details Huntington has incorporated, and how this leads to the viewer being captured by the drama of the moment. Huntington seems to have been inspired by the tradition of animal sculpture, but she's also got her own thing going on, a kind of modern take on an old idea.
