This photograph of the Place des Consuls in Alexandria—it’s like a memory, barely there. The sepia tones make me think of faded postcards, hinting at stories just beyond reach. I wonder about the Zangaki brothers, C. & G., snapping this shot. Were they tourists, or locals trying to capture a sense of place? The composition's so formal, almost like a stage set, but then you notice the little details: the people milling about, the shadows stretching long. The image presents a view from above that allows us to see deep into the frame. The light is interesting, too, all soft and diffused, as if the sun was hiding behind a veil. It makes me think about how we see the world, how much is hidden, or just out of focus. Photographs, like paintings, are never just copies of reality, they’re always interpretations. They invite us to look closer, to imagine, to feel.
