Curator: Let’s consider this Tetradrachm of Alexandria under Philip I. Editor: Wow, that’s a mouthful! My first thought is that it looks so… worn. Like it has stories etched into every groove. Curator: It does. Its imagery is fascinating. On one side is Philip I, while the reverse shows an allegorical figure. Notice the details, even in its aged state. Editor: Absolutely, it gives this aura of being a relic of a forgotten yet important past. Do you think that its cultural importance is amplified by the visible wear and tear? Curator: Most certainly. It’s a potent reminder of cultural memory, of an empire, an economy, and of course, a ruler. Editor: I find that absolutely beautiful. There's a certain haunting beauty to it, don't you think?
