Editor: Here we have Adrian Zingg’s “Plate V,” created sometime in the 18th century. It’s a very detailed landscape scene, almost dreamlike. What catches your eye about this print? Curator: Ah, Zingg. It’s a dance of light and shadow, isn't it? The way the figures blend with the landscape, almost as if they're part of a grand, inevitable design. The tiny bridge in the back, the mountains…makes one think of the sublime, no? Do you feel that pull towards something bigger than yourself when you look at it? Editor: Definitely! It’s grand, but in a quiet way. I appreciate your insight.
