"Cicero" is a cameo portrait of the Roman orator and statesman Marcus Tullius Cicero, carved in shell by Italian artist Niccolò Cerbara. Created between 1805 and 1825, the cameo is now part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's collection in New York. The intricately carved cameo, set in a gold frame, is a testament to Cerbara's skill and the enduring interest in Classical Roman figures during the 19th century. This small-scale work is an example of the miniature art form, popular in the period.
