Jason Limon painted "Suspended in Time" with oil on panel, and it feels like a little theater. The colour palette is quite subdued, greens, browns, and creams, and the matte finish suggests a kind of dreamlike nostalgia. I’m drawn to how Limon uses the paint to build up this textured surface. It's not about hiding the process but embracing the materiality of the paint. You can almost feel the hand of the artist, each brushstroke adding to the story. Note the faded numbers, like ghostly digits, that seem to hover in the background. It's as if time itself is a character in this strange drama. And then there are the skeletons, which are really a testament to Limon's playful use of iconography. This piece reminds me a bit of Mark Ryden, someone else who isn't afraid to explore the darker corners of the imagination. But Limon brings his own unique vision, blending whimsy with a touch of the macabre. Art doesn't need to be one thing or the other, it can be a conversation, an exploration, a way of making sense of the world.
