Editor: This is Johann Georg Wille’s "Louis Gillet, Maréchal des Logis," printed sometime in the 18th century. There’s such drama in this forest scene, almost operatic. What do you make of it? Curator: It's like a captured moment from a play, isn’t it? Wille, born in the German states, made a name for himself in Paris. It reminds me of that precarious balance between control and chaos that defines so much of life. What do you think? Editor: I hadn't considered the control aspect, I was drawn to the heightened emotions. Thanks! Curator: It's a dance between the two, really. Glad to share my perspective.
