This octagonal pewter jug, created in 1831 by an anonymous artist, is a fine example of early 19th-century pewter work. The simple, functional design features a hinged lid with a decorative ring handle, and a spout that extends from the side of the jug. The smooth, silver-toned surface of the pewter vessel highlights its craftsmanship. Currently housed at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, the piece stands at 11 inches tall, making it a substantial and impressive example of its kind.
