This 17th-century title page engraving by Johann Friedrich Greuter depicts two monks writing at a table, with an elaborate frame of cherubs and classical ornamentation. The scene is bathed in light emanating from a dove, symbolic of the Holy Spirit. The inscription on the right refers to a "Francesco" (Francis), suggesting a dedication to a specific individual. The artwork, a fine example of Baroque engraving, is part of the Rijksmuseum collection.
