This acrylic glass object was made by Gerwald Rockenschaub. I wonder what it was like to make this thing? Must have been a dance between precision and chance. It makes me think of Sol LeWitt's structures, but Rockenschaub has a playful quality, doesn't he? The red horizontal lines evenly spaced apart contrast with the white surface to create a clean, geometric pattern. It's almost too perfect, but the slight variations in the application of colour hint at the hand of the artist. It's a bit like Agnes Martin's subtle imperfections. The redness gives me a sense of… longing. This piece reminds me of an ongoing conversation in art, where artists build upon each other's ideas, pushing boundaries and exploring new ways of seeing and being.
