"Vida y Aventuras de D. Simplon" (Life and Adventures of Don Simplon) is a broadside, a single sheet printed on both sides, by Spanish artist Juan Llorens (1800-1900). The broadside is divided into 48 scenes, depicting the life and adventures of Don Simplon. This narrative artwork, similar to a comic strip, was printed in Barcelona, Spain between 1855 and 1865. The work uses woodcuts to illustrate the scenes, which are accompanied by Spanish text explaining the action. The artwork provides a glimpse into popular culture in 19th-century Spain. The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York houses this artifact, which measures 17 5/16 x 12 7/16 in (44 x 31.6 cm).
