This gold forehead ornament, made by the Baule people of Côte d’Ivoire, is a striking example of their intricate metalwork. Dating back to the 20th century, the piece features a distinctive form, with two curved horns and a central vertical element adorned with three square perforations. The ornament's surface is meticulously crafted, displaying a textured, almost woven appearance. It is believed that such ornaments were worn by women to enhance their beauty and symbolize wealth and status within the Baule community. The ornament is now housed in the Minneapolis Institute of Art.
