This anonymous, late 16th-century horn-handled knife, dating from between 1590 and 1596, is an example of everyday cutlery from the Dutch Golden Age. The knife, measuring 12.5 centimeters long, has a worn blade with a pointed tip and a carved horn handle. The handle is made of horn and was likely used for everyday tasks, from preparing food to opening packages. This knife, now on display at the Rijksmuseum, provides insight into the material culture of everyday life during the Dutch Golden Age.
